Serve on a Volunteer Citizen Board or Council

Oregon Health Licensing Agency (OHLA)
Committed to Diversity
The Oregon Health Licensing Agency encourages people of color and bilingual people to apply for positions on the volunteer citizen boards and councils representing the multiple health and related professions the OHLA central agency regulates.

Oregon Laws 2001, Chapter 973 (Senate Bill 786) recommends that state health licensing agencies “establish programs to increase the representation of people of color and bilingual people on the boards and in the professions they regulate.”

The Oregon Health Licensing Agency is committed to diversity and cultural competence in all aspects of its organization, from building a diverse central agency staff to implementing culturally appropriate programs and service delivery systems.

The central agency is also committed to promoting the value of cultural diversity in the professions it regulates.  We do this by providing leadership, training and resources to assist management, staff and board and council members in developing skills to serve increasingly diverse licensees and customers.

We also actively conduct outreach to a diverse range of organizations and media to ensure that opportunities for public service and input are available to all Oregonians.
Make a difference.  Contribute your professional knowledge and expertise or consumer perspective serving on a volunteer citizen board or council.

The Oregon Health Licensing Agency (OHLA) encourages candidates to apply but is not directly involved in the appointment process.  Appointment to a board or council of an OHLA-regulated profession is made by the Governor's Office of Executive Appointments, as are appointments for approximately 200 other state boards and councils.  The office continuously recruits qualified applicants, who undergo a thorough background and reference check before being recommended for appointment.

Please contact the Office of Executive Appointments if you have specific questions about the appointment process or about the status of your individual application.

We welcome your inquiries regarding board and council membership. If there are current vacancies, please follow the steps below to apply.
