Fish and Wildlife Division Personnel
The Division's 119 sworn officers are assigned statewide with specific duties and responsibilities to ensure compliance with natural resource laws.  Two professional staff at General Headquarters support the entire Division.
 
Division assignments (sworn Senior Troopers/Troopers):
  • 69 General fish and wildlife
  • 13 Healthy streams and habitat
  •   7 Commercial fish
  •   3 Special Investigations Unit (SIU)
  •   4 Aircraft pilots
 
ODFW funds approximately 50% of the positions, in addition to some of the seasonal employment programs.  Other funding sources include Oregon Lottery funds, general funds, Oregon State Marine Board funds, federal funds, and service contracts.

    Captain Markee oversees the natural resource law enforcement programs within the state.
 
 
Lieutenant Jeff Samuels – Fisheries Section

  Lieutenant Samuels coordinates the enforcement of commercial fishery regulations, enforcement of sport angling regulations, and supervises the Division’s Special Investigations Unit.  Lieutenant Samuels is OSP's law enforcement representative on the Enforcement Consultant Advisory body to the Pacific Fisheries Management Council and the representative at the Columbia Basin Law Enforcement Council (CBLEC), an organization of law enforcement agencies that enforce regulations pertaining to fisheries in the Columbia River system.

    Lieutenant Heider coordinates the enforcement of wildlife and big game regulations, the Division’s compliance reporting process, the seasonal enforcement contracts, and the Division’s training programs, and is the Program Manager of the Oregon State Marine Board contract.
 
 
Nancy Simonsen – Research Analyst

    Ms. Simonsen manages the administrative workload and paper flow.  She provides direct support to the three sworn members at General Headquarters through preparation of correspondence, reports, statistical data, budget documents, provides oversight of assigned projects and attendance at meetings as a Department representative.  Ms. Simonsen provides indirect support to the remaining sworn members through coordinating reports and providing information as requested.

     Mrs. Bauer is responsible for preparing reports for specific state and federal contracts and Division activities, creating and publishing the monthly newsletter, serving as the Division's web coordinator, supporting the General Headquarters and field personnel by handling miscellaneous projects and providing support assistance, maintaining Division records, and serving external customers by answering and/or routing questions about wildlife and enforcement issues.
